Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Reaction

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
